Recent caving
Submitted by RobVan on Thu, 2007-04-19 07:28.Most of my recent photos have been disappointing, discouraging me from posting anything – I really enjoy putting up the photos better than telling my stories. I finally selected just a few that are acceptable; here are short descriptions to accompany them:
Caney Hollow Cave
Submitted by RobVan on Mon, 2007-03-19 07:38.This past Saturday, March 17th, we went down to Franklin County to survey Caney Hollow Cave while the gray bat colony is still away for the winter. Heather Garland organized the trip, and Ken Oeser led the survey. The rest of the team consisted of Joe Douglas, Kristen Bobo, Becky Dettorre, Lauren, and me.
It was almost a fine Spring day: a bit cold, with a steady breeze making it feel more so, but plenty of sunshine, and wildflowers coming up all over.
Blythe Ferry Cave
Submitted by RobVan on Tue, 2007-02-27 12:41.This past weekend (Feb. 24 & 25) I went with the Oeser family (Ken, Annette, Alexandra, and Braxton) to Blythe Ferry near Dayton Tenn. Gerald and Avis Moni and my daughter Lauren were also along. We wanted to visit and survey several small caves in the area as well as see the sandhill cranes at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge.
