John Law and I are leading a trip to Swirl Canyon the night of Wednesday June 18th. This is a great horizontal cave in Davidson County. You can expect crawling, climbing, mucking, sloshing, and mudding. You MUST have 3 sources of light and a helmet. At least one source of light must be attached to your helmet. Knee pads, gloves, and a change of clothes for after the trip are strongly recommended. We will be wading in ankle deep water so please wear appropriate foot-ware with good ankle support.

Hi all,

Talking with Robert over the weekend, I have agreed to lead a NG trip to Conley Hole on Saturday June 21, 2008.

This is a very nice 163’ pit. There should be a beam of light in the pit this time of year. There is a hike across a field and up the mountain too, so you’ll get to sweat.

We are meeting at the Bell Road Shoney’s on 1-24 in Nashville at 8 AM (leave by 8:15). The second meeting place, in case some of the Upper Cumberland Cavers want to tag along, will be the little square/park in “downtown” Viola, Tennessee (off hwy. 55) at 9:30 AM to leave.

Aimee Roosenberg and Joey Stuckey will be leading a clean-up trip to Indian Grave Point Cave, Dekalb County, TN. This is a horizontal cave with some minor climbing, some trash to pick up and graffiti removal. Meeting at 8:00 a.m. at the McDonalds at the Hwy 109 exit on I-40 (east of Nashville).

We have a reservation for July 1 for Shelter # 10 at Edwin Warner Park. The shelter is located off Vaughns Road and is South of Old Hickory Blvd. between Hwy 100 and Hillsboro Road.

There is no acohol allowed on Park property. If someone is interested in grilling out, they will want to bring the appropriate stuff. I don't believe we can build a fire on the ground. My suggestion is to bring something already to eat. We may want to start a list of what people are planning to bring so we don't end up with 20 bags of potato chips and nothing else, or worse, only cookies to eat;)
