Horizontal Trip - Cooper Creek and Darnells Caves

Etc/GMT-5

Saturday September 16, Robert Van Fleet to lead trip to Cooper Creek and Darnells caves, both near Clarksville and within walking distance of each other. Meet at I-24 exit 35 (Joelton) McDonalds at 8:30 (to leave; arrive earlier if planning to eat). From Joelton it's about another hour to the caves.

Cooper Creek is a pleasant dry cave with some evidence of saltpeter mining, historic graffiti, and, unfortunately, some vandalism. There is some crawling.

Darnells is a spring resurgence; if we have significant rainfall ahead of the trip we'll have to settle for admiring the picturesque entrance and then heading for the vehicles. If the water is low we'll wade in and see what lies beyond. Bring your polypro if you're cold-natured.
