The Nashville Grotto would like to extend an invitation for all TAG cavers to attend a special presentation at our monthly meeting on March 1, 2007 at 7pm at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, TN.

Ed Yarbrough will present a tribute to Harry White (NSS 8336), who recently passed away. The presentation will include photos from cave trips Ed attended with Harry from 1969 through 1990. Harry was a superb photographer of caves, pits and natural subjects.

Ed's pictures catalog trips starting with 510 foot Fantastic Pit in Georgia right after it was found, the third group to do 1345 foot el Sotano del Baro in Mexico in 1972, dozens of TAG classics such as Valhalla, Engle Double, Neversink, Balcony Sink, Pharris Hole, Cagle Chasm and South Pittsburg Pit. It also includes cliff drops like 620 foot Whiteside Mtn. N.C., Burgess Falls, Window Drop, Fancher Falls and Bee Creek Drop (200 ft.) Ed has shots of Harry's first descent of Sinkhole in Marion County, which he later owned. The show also includes a record of Harry's amazing cave vehicle and some field repairs that only he could do.

Before he retired, Harry was Deputy Chief of the Metro Fire Dept. He developed the High Rise Rescue Team at Engine 12 and was the first to do the 409 foot drop off the L&C Tower in Nashville in 1978. He was a real hero to many a young caver and deserves our tribute.
