Our monthly weeknight trip for May will be Hardins Cave in Davidson county. This is an easy, horizontal cave and is suitable for cavers of all ability levels.

You will need a helmet, 3 sources of light, boots with lugged soles and good ankle support, gloves, knee pads, and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and torn. The grotto can loan you a helmet if you notify the trip leader in advance.

Ken Oeser will be leading a trip to Hawkins Impact Cave, an interesting horizontal cave formed in the side of a very, very old meteor impact crater. Meet at the Lebanon Shoneys off I-40, Highway 231 exit, at 8:30 to leave, earlier to eat. This trip is for grotto members only. For more info contact Ken.

Cedar Ridge Crystal Caverns - February 23

This cave is a real treat to visit, whether you've ever seen it or not. It's an easy cave, and is only about 400 feet long total, but it's just covered up with decorations. There's even decorations growing on the other decorations.

You'll need the standard caving gear:

Helmet
Three Lights
Sturdy clothing, boots.
A small pack with water and a snack.
Knee pads and gloves are recommended.

Weeknight trip to Swirl Canyon Cave, Wednesday, January 16

John Law and James Wood will lead a trip to this horizontal cave, located in Davidson County after work on Wednesday,January 16. This cave requires more crawling than Hardins Cave but is a great cave located in our own backyard. The meeting time and place is 6 p.m. at the Shoney’s at I-24 and Bell Road (Hickory Hollow area).

Camp's Gulf Cave Trip- August 4
